Previous projects

Below we give some examples of projects delivered by Hilary in the two years prior to setting up WFTT. For information about past experience of the rest of the WFTT team, click here.

Equal Brighton & Hove Baseline/Interim Evaluation
External evaluation of the EBH programme involving baseline analysis, stakeholder interviews and review of progress against targets to date. The report highlighted issues for the EBH partnership to address in order to ensure successful delivery of the programme.

Sussex Area Investment Framework (AIF) Evaluation Toolkit
Specification and development of a “toolkit” to enable the four Sussex AIF Partnerships, and SEEDA, to evaluate the impact of their programmes to date. The project focussed on developing tools to help identify and reflect the wider strategic (qualitative) added value of the AIF programmes.

Tunbridge Wells Employment Land Review (ELR)
Project manager of a full ELR to inform Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s Local Development Framework (LDF). The study analysed the strategic economic development and planning context, the supply of employment land and property, current and future demand for employment land and advised on appropriate LDF policies to support needs and wider economic development objectives.

Adur and Worthing Employment Land Reviews
Project manager of a jointly commissioned ELR for the two local authorities, similar to that described above. The studies made policy and site based recommendations for each LDF.

Evaluation of the Sussex Enterprise People Development Advisor (PDA) Network
Lead consultant on series of reports that monitored the impact of the PDA network over time in terms of outputs and client satisfaction. The study also investigated issues affecting delivery and contributing to success, and made appropriate policy/management recommendations.

AIF projects: Independent Assessment of Bids
Assessment of bids for AIF funds made to the Brighton & Hove AIF partnership.

Gatwick Diamond Research
Project manager of a research project to identify investment in regeneration and economic development activity in the Gatwick Diamond area across a wide range of public/private and voluntary and community sector partners. The research informed the Action Plan of the Gatwick Diamond Partnership.

Action for Business Colleges (A4BC)
Interviews with stakeholders to identify the impact that the A4BC accreditation process and award had had on delivery of services to business by a number of Further Education colleges.

Support for Regional Brokerage
Research for South-East Business links to inform the new skills brokerage service (Train to Gain). These two research projects involved an evaluation of the on-line Sussex People Development Advisor Service, looking at its scope to be adopted regionally; and also analysis of the on-going resource needs to ensure successful delivery of the various elements of the brokerage project.

Brighton & Hove and Adur Area Investment Framework, Investment Analysis
Lead consultant on an Investment Analysis to inform the Brighton & Hove and Adur AIF. The work involved gathering information about capital and revenue investment to support local economic development and regeneration under a range of themes from over 60 organisations. The subsequent analysis identified aggregate spend by theme, potential future investment trends, gaps in investment and key issues for the AIF action programme to address.

West Sussex Coastal Area Investment Framework, Investment Analysis
Lead consultant on a similar project to the above for the West Sussex coastal AIF partnership.
